Ariel Sub Aqua club was founded in the late 80s by a small group of BBC staff members with an interest in all things underwater. Starting off as a small group of divers we have since expanded into a large and diverse group who regularly dive in the UK and around the world.
We still maintain ties with the BBC, with most members being a mix of BBC staff past and present, wannabe underwater cameramen, friends and family. To be eligible to join you must also be a member of the BBC Club (https://www.bbcclub.com)
We are a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club, the governing body for diving in the UK. Through BSAC we offer new divers training and accreditation giving you the experience and qualifications to dive anywhere around the globe.
The club dives regularly in and around the UK from our dive boat ‘Ariel Diver’ which is currently berthed in Portland, Dorset, home to many famous shipwrecks and underwater sights. We also make frequent overseas trips to warmer waters such as the Red Sea and Malta, with expeditions as far as the Galapagos.
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the BBC Club Wogan House so feel free to pop along to meet the club or book a try dive.
To learn more about the club, make a membership enquiry or have a question then please drop our ASAC committee a message through the contact page.
