BSAC Sport Diver: Expand Your Horizons

Ariel Sub Aqua Club (ASAC) is proud to offer the BSAC Sport Diver course, the next exciting step in your underwater journey. While Ocean Diver gives you the essentials, Sport Diver is where you truly develop the “craft” of diving, gaining the skills to explore more diverse environments and take a more active role in dive planning.

Why Progress to Sport Diver?

The Sport Diver qualification focuses on building your confidence and safety awareness. You will learn depth progression, underwater navigation, and how to use specialized equipment like surface marker buoys (SMBs). Most importantly, you will be trained in Rescue Skills, learning how to look after yourself and your buddy in a range of scenarios.

New Adventures Await

• Greater Depth: Gradually extend your maximum depth to 40 metres (once post-qualification progressions are complete), opening up a world of deeper wrecks and offshore reefs.
• Longer Dives: Learn the fundamentals of decompression theory allowing you to complete longer dives with decompression stops if required.
• Diverse Environments: Gain the skills needed for drift dives, night dives, and wreck exploration.
• The Gateway to Leadership: Sport Diver is the prerequisite for moving toward Dive Leader and allows you to do the Instructor Foundation Course to begin your Open Water Instructor journey.

What’s Involved?

The course consists of six theory modules, two dry practical sessions, a sheltered water rescue skills session and six open water dives. Like all ASAC training, this is delivered by our experienced volunteer instructors who ensure you progress at a pace that feels safe and rewarding.

As a Sport Diver, you aren’t just a guest on a boat; you are a capable, savvy diver ready to explore the best of what the UK and international waters have to offer.
